Who'd like some real mail? A little giveaway to perk you up

I really like how the note cards I designed with my photographs turned out, so I'd like to share a few.

If you'd like a chance to receive a note card in the mail from me, leave a comment on this post telling me which 2 photographs below you like best.

To see the cards individually and in greater detail, click the links below.

Top right: The Link
Middle left: Desert Wave: Petrified Forest National Park
Center: Green Man
Middle right: North Window: Arches National Park
Bottom left: Light patterns on water surface
Bottom center: Raging Fire
Bottom right: Burning Brush

DETAILS:

You have until 11:59 PM EDT Sunday, July 18, 2010 to enter. On Monday, July 19, I'll draw 3 names at random and contact the winners for their addresses. The first winner drawn has 1st dibs on their favorite photograph based on their comment entry, then the 2nd winner drawn, then the 3rd. I'll try to accommodate everyone's first choices, but I don't have 3 of every card, so I reserve the right to send the 2nd and 3rd winners their second choices.

Once I have the winners' addresses, I'll write them each notes and get the cards sent off as soon as I can. (If you live outside of the US, it may take 1-2 weeks to arrive, or possibly longer depending on where you live.)

1 entry per person. Make sure I can contact you if you win: twitter handle, blog link, or email.

Open to anyone with a mailing address she or he is willing to share with me. I take privacy seriously, so all I will use your address for is to mail you your super sweet card.

Any questions? Leave them in the comments and I'll do my best to answer them.

Good luck!

UPDATE: The contest is now closed. Winners will be picked and announced on Monday, July 19th. Good luck, everybody!

  1. I would kill to have your eye for photography. (I'd kill humanely, of course.)

I dig all the images, but I think I like the Desert Wave and After Hockney the best. Very cool stuff, Claire!

  2. Thanks very much, M!

Well, wait a second, did you mean me? I'll just point out that my eye works best when it's attached to the rest of me. ;)

  3. HA! I'd take a similarly talented, unattached eye. :)

  6. Scholiast! Hey! I was just thinking about you this morning, but you've popped over of your own accord. Yay.

You don't have to be different just for the sake of it, it's perfectly reasonable to like the same ones.

Amanda: Thanks! I take it you mean North Window, the one in the middle row all the way on the right.

  7. Posted on Kate's behalf:
Dear Claire, I tried to post my comment but Google was persnickity and wouldnt let me do it. My choices: The Pyramid, Water (check out this guy named Fletcher Cox and look for his coffee table because I see a simularity!) and I have a third favorite, the burning brush. I congradulate you on some beautiful work!

From Claire: Sorry you had trouble posting, Kate. Thanks very much for the kind words. If I'm looking at the right Fletcher Cox coffee table, it does mirror the shape in North Window. An amusing coincidence that you mention a coffee table since I've long had some in mind to build, just no space. Puts it back on the brain.

If anyone else has trouble commenting, just send me your picks in an email. My address is at the top of the sidebar.

  10. Beautiful shots, Claire. I can't decide which I like best, though I am partial to the pyramid. I am delighted that you've been putting your exquisite eye to the test and have been shooting and sharing your work.
Best of luck with the venture! Hopefully we will all get to see your prints at MOMA soon! BTW- you must come to NYC and see the Bresson exhibit. It's gorgeous.

  11. Thanks for entering, Vahid!

Ruth! Thank you so much for the lovely encouragement. The venture is a work in progress to be sure, but it's in progress, so that's something. :)

I took a peek at the online info for Bresson. Some exquisite shots there! Alas, I seem to have missed it by a few weeks. I'm sure his work will turn up elsewhere though...

  16. Okay, I'm too late for the notecard giveaway (my loss!), but I can't resist weighing in anyway: I like Desert Wave and After Hockney best. The colors in Desert Wave are awesome--almost washed out and desert-y.

  17. Thanks for weighing in, Cheryl! I appreciate the feedback.
