On Saturday, January 4th, 2020, I went for my first walk outside of the year and of the new decade.
It was 38 degrees F (3.3 C), grey, and foggy.
As I strode up the street, the fog was dense enough that it felt like I was being continually spritzed with small, cold, water drops.
Bracing.
Although I got a reprieve from the spray of mist when I reversed direction and headed back down the street, I decided one loop was enough.

Mom's Dream
In my Mom's dream, my parents and I were riding along in a car and I was sitting in the back. Mom asked if I'd seen the bears. I hadn't so Dad turned around.
A mama bear climbed over a fence and was encouraging her baby bear to climb over to join her. Unfortunately, it was into the yard of a "sweet, little dog" that was going absolutely crazy.
When I saw what was happening from the street, I got out of the car to diffuse the situation but could not get the fluffy dog to chill out.
I laughed as Mom relayed this because it was all entirely on brand.

A Worthy Fog
It was foggy when I got up this morning.
Usually I get up, brush my teeth, work out, shower, and then have breakfast.
Today, I kept looking outside as I started my work out wondering how long the fog would last. The hour-by-hour forecast showed fog at 4 and 5, but I figured it'd be too dark and that I was better off going while I saw fog outside. I decided to roll the dice and finish exercising because I knew the chances were slim that I'd go back to it, but then to head out to photograph some fog.
I dug out the pants, long sleeve tee, and hoodie I'd worn yesterday and threw them over my pjs and hit the road.
It wasn't as foggy down by the river as I'd hoped; actually it was raining slightly but I got out and shot anyway for about an hour.
While I was shooting it crossed my mind that I still wasn't done culling and rating photos I took a week ago and have yet to look at photos I took a couple days ago, and here I was adding a lot more to go through. It didn't stop me from shooting though.
When I got home, I took a shower, put on a clean set of clothes, started laundry, and then finally sat down to eat breakfast at quarter to 3.
Here's to photographing atmospheric conditions when they occur!

Life of Art #515 [Happy New Year!]
Happy New Year, all y'all!
Not much to report this week since my dialed back efforts over the holidays were mainly behind the scenes.
I did create a new Rocklawn Arts logo that I have yet to roll out. I'm still deciding if I like it. It just uses the initials so it will read better at tiny social media icon sizes, but I feel there is value in having the full name displayed. What do you think?
Saw an art exhibit of paintings and a living plant wall which was cool.
Shot 218 photographs and more I've yet to upload.
Pinned to boards at Rocklawn Arts on Pinterest.
I hope your holidays have been lovely and wish you all a healthy, happy, fun, prosperous year and decade to come!

The Books of 2019
Here are the 44 books I read in 2019 along with some stats generated by GoodReads. I'm not sure why they don't offer an option to share this directly, but here are screenshots:

A Nice Week
It's been a nice week. Enough snow pack for a white Christmas despite temperatures over freezing. Even a couple days that got up to 40˚ F. A most welcome reprieve from the alternating rain, snow, and temperatures that didn't get out of the teens for most of the rest of December.
Some blue skies and sun now and then.
Rain returns tomorrow followed by ice and then another snow storm a couple days later.
I am thankful for this week of moderate, dry weather.
I hope you are enjoying the holidays!
