Breath: The New Science of a Lost Art

Breath: The New Science of a Lost Art32. Breath: The New Science of a Lost Art by James Nestor
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Interesting, but not a tactical guide for breathing better. If that's what you're looking for, skip to the epilogue which gives a condensed version of the book and the appendix which describes some breathing techniques. And check out his website https://www.mrjamesnestor.com/breath for video demos of breathing techniques and expert talks.

If you're looking for the "new science," that's mostly in the end notes.

The meat of the book is a mix of memoir style writing of his experiences with different breathing techniques and stories about past breathing techniques with benefits that never went mainstream. It gives more context to the techniques.
