Observations in my parents' kitchen

Dad was at the sink doing dishes. Mom was behind him, standing on one foot as she wiped off some salmon juices that had landed on her shoe when she put the tinfoil she'd cooked it in into the trash. She wobbled a bit and reached out, putting her hand briefly on her husband's ass to steady herself.

As she crossed the room to exit, I said, "Dad's a good buttress."

After two more steps, she stopped and looked at me.

"Oh, c'mon," I said, "that was good."

"No," Mom said, "that was great."
