I had one of those realizations recently, stemming from the experience with my friend Splice that I wrote about in the <A HREF="http://tallerthanaveragetales.blogspot.com/2009/05/well-its-out-of-my-hands-now.html" REL="nofollow">Grace section of this post</A>. Namely, that I had no game back then, and more relevantly, I still don't. <br /><br />However... I also came around to the idea of <I>acting like</I> I'm confident and at ease in the hopes I might appear to be more so.<br /><br />I like your line, but I'd probably go with something more like, "I stopped by to say, 'hey,' I hear it's not just for horses anymore." That would work as a note if she's not there.
