Life of Art SitRep #277 Geometrics

Huzzah! The time consuming monogram templates are finished. Hopefully the pace of things will pick up from here. Though now I think about it any design where I have to change the monogram color will be a bit mind numbing. Still faster than this week though. I'll take it!

Created another small batch of Black Stripes And Chevrons With Monogram On White products. The rest will be coming soon now I've finished the templates.

Also started adding design variation Black Equal Sign Geometric Pattern on White to some products:

Created Stylish iPhone 6 Plus Wood Cases and Striking Samsung Galaxy S6 Photo Cases collections.

Rocklawn Arts blogged Gay Pride Rainbow Swag and Stylish iPhone 6 Plus Wood Cases.

Updated links file.

Made accent pillow templates.

Weeded out some old iPad templates.

Watched a video class beta version through a mailing list I'm on.

Chu's Day at the Beach

Chu's Day at the Beach38. Chu's Day at the Beach by Neil Gaiman

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I loved the art in this book and enjoyed the story which had a cool twist.

Highly recommended if you've got little ones or enjoy beautiful, fun illustrations.

Chu's Day is the first book in the series and there's also Chu's First Day of School (enjoyed the former, haven't read the latter).

Life of Art SitRep #276 Stripes and Chevrons en route!

This week I worked in a different room. Couldn't say I was more productive but it definitely had a different feel. It provided a separate area for work which made it easier (for good or bad) to shut off. May need to explore that further once I find some more space.

Got my ailing computer up and running for a bit to prepare some designs.

Started creating some new template sets, more time consuming than usual with the addition of customizable monograms.

Added my new design Black Stripes And Chevrons With Monogram On White (yeah, that's a mouthful) to my first batch of new templates. More to come!

Rocklawn Arts blogged Geometric Rainbow Pattern LGBT Pride T-shirts and Rainbow Geometric Pattern LGBT Pride Stickers.

Words Without Music: A Memoir

Words Without Music: A Memoir34.Words Without Music: A Memoir by Philip Glass

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Thoroughly enjoyable memoir by composer Philip Glass. Highly recommended for music and art fans, musicians, artists, and those who enjoy stories set during WWII, the 50s, 60s, 70s and beyond.

Creative, intellectual, well-traveled, open to the search. Well worth reading.

Dusk Sighting

When you find yourself saying, "It's as big as a turkey," about the massive bird perched 75 feet up a tree, it's because it's actually a turkey. I'd seen them fly a few feet off the ground before, but this was legit high flying. It's wingspan was massive.

Life of Art SitRep #274 Oh, the possibilities

Some kinks I've been struggling with the past few weeks resolved themselves, at least for the moment, so I was able to finish adding my new design, White on Black Geometric Equal Sign Pattern, to my shop:

Rocklawn Arts blogged White on Black Geometric Equal Sign Pattern

Shot ~37 photographs.

Added my designs to more Samsung Galaxy S6 Cases and Wine Totes:

Updated links and LOA files.

Learned about new collections on Zazzle and created 4. (Actually I learned something cool just now, you can format the bloggable content a few different ways, neat!):

I will curate more collections, likely many more so each page is a focused grouping. Naming them all will likely become a challenge. Lots of possibilities and a really nice way to showcase my artwork offerings.

Tiny Sheep!

Tonight's sighting: at least 22 tiny sheep dashing en masse to and fro, charging up a pile of dirt to play king of the mountain as part of their circuit. It was the best.

I really like the tiny black sheep. Figures, right?

The guard horse and llama were in the hut at the back. The adult sheep were lined up against the far fence where a woman had just spread out some feed. They were all about dinner. Within that row of sheep was a larger white and brown mottled animal, possibly a goat though a large one. The goat? was aggressive, no one stayed near it for long as it would turn to butt heads with anyone encroaching.

I focused mainly on the little sheep. One cute tiny one was white with a black face. The petite mob ran the length of the small field several times while the adults faced the fence oblivious to their fun.

Life of Art SitRep #273 Stopgap Measure, Engage!

If you've been following along, you know my iMac has been getting progressively less reliable. This week it crashed every day I turned it on and sometimes more than once a day. I spent a lot of this week backing files up.

It's like it knew there was a PC in the room because not long after I brought the laptop in, the screen went black, then the bottom third came back on, but it was frozen nonetheless. The iMac has been in a time out since Wednesday.

The catch is that I only have core files on a drive a PC can read.

So why the PC? Well, I refuse to buy an iMac that's a year and a half old (most of Apple's product line at present). Even the newest 5K retina top of the line model is 6 months old and for $2500, I want more RAM and hard drive space standard. Most of the line is due for a significant refresh and I don't want to spend that much for a much upgraded version to come out in a few months.

My Dad is kindly letting me borrow his PC laptop in the interim. Oh, the learning curve! Fortunately I can do a lot of work as long as I have access to a web browser. And I'm pretty stoked that NeoOffice files work seamlessly with OpenOffice. So score for that.

Most of the past two days have been getting the laptop set up and figuring out how to do what I've taken for granted on my computer. Now that I have a mouse hooked up, I'm in better shape to get back to work. (I don't have the hang of making text selections on a track pad.)

So...before things got crazy, what did I get done this week? (I think I'm missing a day or so of notes that didn't make it to my PC/Mac friendly drive before my iMac's last though hopefully not final crash.)

Shot about 250 photographs.
