Life of Art SitRep #263 Moments of Clarity

Usually when I add a new product to my store, I can finish adding my existing images to it in a week or two, sometimes just a few days. Not so with Fabrics. There are more decisions to be made, but I enjoy making them.

I did finish adding the designs I wanted to fabric. Well, now that I type that I can think of 3 more I may add but I need to revise the aspect ratio on them first. But overall, I just have my photographs to do next.

Life of Art SitRep #262 Soaking it in

Went to a contemporary art museum and saw a lot of great, fun exhibits. Nearly everything was new since the last time I'd been which made it a real treat. I'd go just for the building itself though, an old converted factory.

Shot 128 photos and 3 videos. Made the cardinal sin in 2 videos of shooting vertically because it was a better composition. The motion going sideways instead of down just made me laugh though.

Added more designs and photographs to new Fabric for my shop:

Painted a wave drawing I'd done. Should’ve used pens/marker instead for fine lines. Have complete respect for the inkers who work on comic books. Painting is better freehand for me. Did some freehand on scraps and edges.

Scanned images I painted.

Finished a geometric digital pattern I'd been working on and worked on a rotated variation. Have some decisions to make about the latter.

Watched a couple segments of Become a Working Artist with Lisa Congdon about licensing artwork on Creative Live.

10. DC Comics: The New 52

DC Comics: The New 5210. DC Comics: The New 52 by Dan DiDio

My rating: 2 of 5 stars

Every first issue from each new run in the New 52 by DC Comics. Be warned that means 52 cliffhangers. The book is also 3" thick and weighs about 10 pounds so it's a bit unwieldy.

I liked some stories more than others but overall it leans more towards horror than I care for. It's a lot of gore when compiled this way.

I've been reading most of the books with female lead characters (not that many out of the 52): Wonder Woman, Batgirl (my fave thus far), Batwoman, Catwoman. You can see my thoughts on those in reviews of their volume collections.

I've also read and rated the first volumes of Green Arrow and Green Lantern. Might be a couple others as well.

Comics that caught my eye from this collection: Blackhawks, Teen Titans, Nightwing, and Batman.

Life of Art SitRep #261 Fabrics, the beginning

Not the gangbuster week I was hoping for, but progress was made. It's so easy to get frustrated that I don't have the energy I did before I got sick last week, but I'm going to take my own advice and recognize the progress I am making. It's slow but it is occurring.

I hope you are all healthy and well. Eat right and get your sleep.

This week I made some headway adding my designs to new Fabrics to my shop:

Best Part of Winter

Late at night, fresh, smooth snow, clear sky, full moon.

Tree shadows running across the illuminated snow. A soft but vibrant light blue broken only by silhouettes and shadows.
