Photos are Heavy

All those people who say they'd grab their photos if their house was on fire, I wonder what they're thinking. Me, I'm grabbing shoes and maybe a pair of pants if it's the middle of the night.

Sure, I'd love to take all my photos with me, but ten boxes is too unwieldy and too heavy. Toss them out the window maybe, but if your house is really burning, you don't have that kind of time.

That alarm system ad drives me crazy. Great, call and chat me up while I stand here in my burning house, so I can pass out from smoke inhalation.

  1. Now if you were to digitize your photos and then just grab your computer during a fire, it would be so much easier.

  2. Burn 'em to a dvd or a couple thumb drives and it'd be even easier.

Actually, I've been digitizing an album of old photos for my mom, and it's driving me crazy! I just don't have the patience for it, and there's still such a long way to go.

  3. Scanning is the bain of the computer world. I hate it. I know it's nice to have your old photos digitized, but the means to the end are horrible.

DVDs are a nice way to back them up. But I love my computer and would want to save it. Besides, it also has all my MP3 files on it. Those would be a pain to lose. 36GB takes some time to replace.

  4. It's a good point. I imagine many people would say they'd want to save their computer nowadays- certainly the laptop owners.

If I ditched the power cable and stuff, I could manage mine (assuming I could get to it). It would be a huge drag to lose all the music I've imported.

  5. I'd grab the kids so they were safe to be photographed later...
